An entire week of gemstones, jewellery, watches and more! Hong Kong was host to the twin Jewellery shows, powered by the HTDC, that were all about dazzle and designers. The Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show was held at the Asia World Expo from March 2-6 and the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show happened at the HKCEC from March 4-8. This year’s theme was ‘Symphony of Sparkles’ and it truly was. The shows were a networking, sourcing and B2B trading hub for retailers to shop and stock for their next collections.

The Asia World Expo venue housed the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show. It featured loose gemstones, diamonds, pearls and other high quality materials that are used to produce masterful pieces and jewels.

Sapphire Creations, with their own lapidary, are a well known name in the world of gemstones for 2 decades with a specialisation in calibrated stones. Their multi hued kaleidoscopic sapphire collection truly amazed every visitor to the fair.

An expertise of more than 3 decades makes Gandhi Gems one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of gemstones. Their collection of ombre shades of calibrated, custom and stylish cuts was to watch out for.

I was regaled in red radiance with a huge collection of rubies at the booth of Gems & Jewels. They are known for ethical sourcing of their stones from the best mines across the globe.

Blue brilliance was the colour of the Valentine Jewels booth. Their specialization in tanzanites and a vast collection of the same in layouts and sets was proof of their expertise in the stone.

I had my knowledge tested at the Shrey International booth with a fun quiz. Their collection of rare gemstones like kunzite, tourmaline and tanzanite in a multitude of colours and unique cuts drew a lot of admiration from visitors.

The Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show was truly a treasure of colours, cuts, carats and class. I discovered some amazing collections and my favourite emerald cut gemstones in many booths.

The Hong Kong International Jewellery Show was held from March 4-8 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This B2B show was all about the finest couture jewels and high-end pieces. The theme was highlighted by many designers who displayed in dedicated zones aptly named ‘Hall of Extraordinary’, ‘Hall of Fame’, ‘Designer Jewellery Galleria’ and ‘Gold Jewellery Zone’.

The German design house of Moiseikin has always made pieces that speak a story. Their exclusive for MiSK collection, Minara, was an ode to the holy month of Ramadan. The jewels featured miniature lanterns made in gold with diamonds, topaz, amethyst and citrine.

I have always been wowed by the ease and versatility of jewellery mounting and it was enhanced at the Laffan Atelier booth. Their bespoke mountings were a blend of art and handcrafted precision.

A press walk organised by the show ensured I don’t miss the best of the best brands showcasing their finest pieces. Meeting the art and their artists was a dream come true for the jewellery enthusiast in me.

I deepened my knowledge of jewellery mountings and the importance of prongs this year at the Sade Is booth. Their precision designs and extensive range make them the perfect business partner for all jewellers and manufacturers.

Jade is a stone for good luck and fortune and is highly celebrated in Chinese culture. This gorgeous Burmese Jade necklace was a masterful piece created by On Tung, an expert in making jewels with the vibrant green stone.

As a lover of vintage jewellery, I had to stop and admire these wonderful pieces – A 1939 Cartier sapphire bracelet, a 1979 Bvlgari pair of emerald earrings, and a onyx and ivory pendant by Boucheron.

The twin jewellery shows in Hong Kong were the perfect setting for designers, jewellers, manufacturers, suppliers and jewellery lovers to meet and interact and get ready for their next season of colours, carats in classic and contemporary forms. Lets see what they have in store the next edition.
