The 57th edition of Jewellery & Gem World was held at the world’s top jewellery destination, Hong Kong. The show was held at 2 venues over a week from 15th to 21 September. It was divided into 6 themes, where 4000+ exhibitors showcased their latest and their best for the visitors!

The stellar JGW Hong Kong Show was divided into 6 mini shows, of which 3 were hosted at the Asia World Expo. The fair was held here from September 15-19.

The venue hosted the rare and best of loose stones, diamonds and pearls from renowned brands from several countries!

RMC’s collection of rare Paraiba Tourmalines is unparalleled in the industry. They showcased a vast range of sizes and shapes of the rare gemstone whose shades of brilliant blue.

Gandhi, a premium brand for gemstones, brought out a wide array of gemstones that included calibrated, layouts, pairs and singles of all kinds of precious and semi precious stones. They specialize in classic as well as exotic shapes along with unique asymmetric pieces.

This 25-year-old brand had the answer to all questions: gems! They had a display of the finest quality of gemstones in a host of colours, shades and shapes. The perfectly calibrated stones were waiting to be mounted into designer masterpieces of dreams!

Quiet Quotidian displayed the highest quality of emeralds from Brazil. The deep green colour enhanced their mirror-like clarity. The highest grade of loose emeralds, polished to perfection, were an easy choice for visitors. My favourite were the heart-shaped ones.

Mohra Group offered stylish custom-designed cuts and shapes along with bespoke gemstones. The ethically sourced high quality gemstones included tourmalines, aquamarines, colourful sapphires, and peridots from across the globe.

These two layouts by Gems and Jewels featured precious rubies in two unique shapes, no heat hexagons and pears. These perfectly calibrated Mozambique rubies, exceptional due to their vibrant colours, were much sought after by jewellers and designers! I couldn’t decide which one I liked better.

The three JGW Hong Kong shows held at the AWE were an indulgence in the highest quality of gemstones, diamonds and pearls. Much-sought-after brands that source, manufacture, and design rare and fine gemstones were all under one roof.

The HKCEC venue was focused on finished jewels, tools, packaging and tech aspects of the jewellery industry. I was thrilled to witness the glamorous world of gold perfected with pearls and gemstones and enhanced by the marvel of machinery. The show was hosted here from September 17-21.

Alchemy had a fine selection of 14K gold jewellery that boasted of bold enamel work. This B2B brand catered to all age groups and fascinated them with their wow factor of colourful enamel and natural diamonds.

Anaisha presented exclusive high jewelry in breathtaking designs using gold with natural gemstones. The pieces were a master class in luxury and artistry. This beautiful bangle which doubled as an arm band had serene elements inspired from Buddhism and was my absolute favourite.

Unique Brilliant Ltd., is a one stop destination for fancy layouts, loose gemstones and stunning finished jewels. They wowed not just with their high jewellery but also with their supreme quality natural diamonds and gemstones. Exceptional masterpieces crafted by them stole the show.

Kahn High Jewellery Atelier, source, manufacture and design premium jewels. Their timeless pieces were a testament to skilled craftsmanship that enhanced the beauty of rare gemstones. Their dedication, expertise and innovation have resulted in unique masterpieces like the necklace above.

The industry is not just glam and glitter but also about sustainable practices. The Sustainability Awards by JWA are awarded to honour the stalwarts of gems and jewellery who are warriors for sustainability. The awardees this year included Harikrishna Exports, Shop LC, Shenzhen Kinghood etc.

The Gemolithos by Ioannis Alexandria was a pleasant find at the Antique Hall, HKCEC, where I found a treasure, a beautiful handcrafted brooch circa 1900, embellished with pearls, diamonds and emeralds. The antique jewellery lover in me was truly excited to see this one up close.

My week in Hong Kong flew by in a jiffy. The humongous Gem and Jewellery Fair held at the HKCEC and the AWE was an amazing experience of networking, witnessing masterpiece creations and memorable hospitality. I am already looking forward to next year!
