Saudi International Luxury Week in Riyadh took place from 5-9 May, at the Mandarin Oriental Alfaisaliah Hotel. The show provided a curated selection of exquisite jewellery pieces that catered to the sophisticated tastes of its clientele. It was an exciting moment for me to visit Riyadh once again for the 2024 edition of the Saudi International Luxury Week in Riyadh
Saudi Arabia’s rich history and heritage play a key role in shaping its jewellery market and have earned it a reputation as a hub for luxury jewellery. Riyadh, the capital city, is home to one-fifth of the Kingdom’s 34 million population, and at the Saudi International Luxury Week in Riyadh, I witnessed the best high jewellery and watches from exhibiting brands from different parts of the world. A special section was dedicated to the Italian jewellery brands.
The show was open to all visitors free of charge to witness masterpieces across the globe.
My first stop was by Alfardan Jewellery-KSA who is Saudi Arabia’s Leading high-end watches & jewellery Retailer. I had the pleasure of admiring jewels from brands such as Alfardan Jewellery, Noudar Jewels, Franck Muller, Butani Jewellery and Faberge to name a few! If you are planning a visit to Saudi Arabia do make an appointment to Alfardan Jewellery KSA.
Since 1952, brothers Abdullah and Abdul Wahed Al-Kooheji, established a name in the world of elegance and high-end jewellery in the Kingdom of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Their jewellery is distinguished by its unique quality, which has been maintained for decades, and each jewellery piece is crafted with utmost precision and professionalism! Featured above is one of the most extortionary layered natural diamond necklaces made with fancy-cut diamonds by Kooheji on the left.
I also had the pleasure of visiting the House of Gol, one of the most important exhibitors from New York and admire the extraordinary pieces. Featured in the centre is a crescent-shaped inspired earring with hanging briolettes.
Lastly, a necklace by Nsouli Jewelry, a brand founded by Atef Nsouli in 1982, and over the past three decades, it has evolved as one of the most respected brands in the Middle East jewellery industry, that shares the sparkle born from the heart of Beirut.
AWKN1, the Parisian fashion house known for its elegant and innovative designs, announced its evolution into MARCELINE Joaillerie. This new chapter marks a return to the brand’s artistic core values and a renewed focus on exquisite craftsmanship and trend-forward design. MARCELINE is a heartfelt tribute to a family member of the brand’s visionary founder, Anne-Marie Le Flanchec. Anne-Marie’s love for jewellery and her passion for art serve as a constant source of inspiration for the brand’s creative direction!
The team at Alok Lodha always has the most exceptional jewellery pieces, and at the Saudi International Luxury Week in Riyadh, they crafted an exceptional Rose cut diamond high jewellery necklace, and a pair of earrings.
A fusion of aesthetics and functional elegance with Karati from Japan, which focuses on nurturing young craftsmen to pass on traditional techniques, was my discovery at the Saudi International Luxury Week in Riyadh. They had some of the most rare and unconventional designs displayed that were an amalgamation between traditional Japanese and modern designs.
A Blue Leopard Watch by Sicis Jewels handcrafted using the signature micromosaic technique. This remarkable and ancient technique uses tiny glass fragments with varied shapes, and is set one by one by hand with precision to create colourful and fascinating designs; the result is extraordinary wearable art. The skilled team of artisans at Sicis Jewels aims to reinterpret the charm and the mystery of ancient Micromosaic techniques and make them into contemporary jewellery!
It is my quest at every International Jewellery show to focus on highlighting jewellery trends and designs aligned to that country and region. During my visit to the Saudi International Luxury Week in Riyadh, it was no different. I discovered besides the traditional gemstones such as Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire… gemstones like Mother Of Pearl, Turquoise, Malachite, Chalcedony, Amethyst, Moonstone (to name a few…) are celebrated and widely used in jewellery, which reflects the region’s cultural heritage and a blend of traditional styles with contemporary influences. A case in point is the jewellery featured above which is ethereal in every sense of the word.
It was incredible being in Saudi Arabia; Riyadh; and sharing the world of exquisite gems and Jewels!
