Paul Wild: A Name Synonymous For The World Of Colors Gemstones For 10 Generations!

Founded in 1927 by Paul Wild in Kirschweiler, Paul Wild OHG has carved out a significant niche in the international gemstone business and today the company operates its mines in all the important mining regions of the world and offers a diverse portfolio of color gemstones including Paraiba, Tourmaline, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Tanzanite and Spinel, to name a few; which inspires world-leading jewellery design companies to create desirable items.

It was a dream come true for me to visit Paul Wild Company in Idar Oberstein and be a part of their factory tour, and experience Innovation in Gemstones!

Mega Rough Collection:

I began my Paul Wild factory tour by entering inside their MEGA SAFE, which had containers filled with different varieties of rough gemstones sourced from around the world.

Mr Makus Wild shared “ Knowing the source of a coloured gemstone is vital for customers and essential in order to determine the value of a gemstone. To guarantee the most ambitious portfolio, we not only purchase rough goods from trusted suppliers, but also offer valuable treasures and rarities from our own mines in Brazil and Africa, including some truly exceptional collector’s items. Each stone we stock has been individually selected with the utmost care”

Gemstone Cutting:

Paul Wild stones are cut and finished exclusively in-house. The skilled craftsmen pay special attention to the exact symmetry of gemstones to create first-rate, intensely brilliant stones in an assortment of cuts and sizes. Faceted stones, fantasy cuts, cabochons, sets, pairs and carvings are offered both as exquisite one-off pieces as well as calibrated, serially produced items.

I had the pleasure of experiencing the rough to polish gemstone cutting procedure of ParaibaTourmaline. The three different steps I witnessed are:
1. Sawing of rough gemstones.
2. Performing of cut gemstones.
3. Faceting.

Creation:

The skilled team at Paul Wild expertises in creating beautiful layouts from different cut, color and different type of gemstones such as Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Spinel, Morganite, Aquamine and many more!

In the above video, we can notice that each gemstone in the layout is carefully selected bringing life to the design.

I had the pleasure of curating an IG LIVE talk with Mr Markus Wild from his office in Idar Oberstein and sharing the magical experience with my global audience. Watch the whole video to view spectacular gemstone rough, polished gemstones and creative layouts.

It was indeed a most memorable factory visit and I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the entire team at Paul Wild for their kindness and especially to Mr and Mrs Wild for their kind hospitality.
